The contract between the NACACAA (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association), the Curacao Athletics Association and the local organization committee was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Ben Whiteman. The association is proud of the turnout of the event and was pleased with partners, media, the government, sponsors and above all the attendance of talented and prominent athletes from Curacao.

“Churandy Martina arrived on Curacao on Friday and visited the ceremony. He is a great example for young athletes and we are therefore very proud that he attended this special moment. Other athletes such as Liemarvin Bonevacia, Hensley Paulina and Terence Agard were present and we are very pleased with that.” Says Cordillia.

The NACACAA indicated that these Carifta Games 2017 could become one of the best in the history so far and it is now up to Curacao to make this happen together with the government, media, athletes, partners and sponsors.

The cross country competition at Landhuis Wechi, the showing of the movie “Churandy, the road to China and the “Sport-a-Ton” at FDDK were very well visited and were a great success for the Curacao Athletics Association.

With the proceeds from the activities, a program will be prolonged to guide talented young athletes.
