Doing something positive in Curacao

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWILLEMSTAD - When your husband is stationed or transferred to an island, what is a woman to do? Find others like her, of course. On Curacao there is a group of almost 40 women from over 20 different countries who have been getting together for lunch once a week. These gals have created their own charity fund by collecting a small amount from each woman once a month when they go on a field trip to explore the hidden Curacao.  In January, they got together in colorful dresses and whimsical tutus for a unique photo of the Quarantine House.

For three months, they have been working on paper dress creations and last week enjoyed many laughs and another photo shoot; this time at the Gallery Alma Blou. The proceeds they have collected have been used to purchase items for the Ronald Mc Donald House, Christmas presents for needy children and hold Bon Kune nights in St. Willibrordus and Fuik. They live in more ways than one on this wonderful island of ours. Keep an eye out or possibly an ear and you’ll meet them.
