Get ready for the 2nd edition of the Duck Race, organized by the Rotary Club Willemstad

Adopt your rubber duck(s) today!

Duck raceWILLEMSTAD - On November 5, 2017, the Rotary Club of Willemstad will organize its 2nd Duck Race fundraising event at the Waaigat in downtown Willemstad. This fundraiser will raise funds for Fundashon Encelia’s youth crisis center.

Last year’s event was a resounding success, thanks in part to the many that attended the impressive rubber ducky drop. An amazing 10,000 rubber duckies were released from a hanging container into the Waaigat. The rubber ducks, aided by the elements, drifted down the Waaigat onto the finish line. This unique feat will be repeated this year. Each rubber duck that is released into the Waaigat, has a unique number printed on it which corresponds to a ticket number. The first five rubber ducks that make it to the finish line, win fabulous prizes. Just like last year, each rubber duck will be recovered so that it can be re-used during the next edition of the Duck Race.

The 2nd Duck Race is organized by Rotary Club Willemstad (RCW), in close collaboration with the branding partners, Maduro & Curiel’s Bank (MCB), Fundashon Bon Intenshon (FBI), One Media Group, Curacao Port Authorities (CPA) / Kompania di Tou Korsou (KTK), and the Curaçao Tourism Board (CTB). Funds raised by the Duck Race will be used to help Fundashon Encelia expand their facilities. The foundation provides temporary shelter and care for children between the ages of 4 and 12 that are in a crisis situation.  RCW has been a proud supporter of the foundation since 2015 and has committed the funds raised during the Duck Race to the foundation, until 2018. This event would not be possible with the help of the aforementioned branding partners that have pledged their support for this fundraiser.

The Duck Race will be held on Sunday, November 5th, between 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm. There will be lots of fun stuff to do during the day for the whole family at the Waaigat parking lot. Children can play and ride at the children's playground, while adults can enjoy music on the stage and food & beverages at the food court. More importantly, while supporting the Duck Race, participants have a chance to win may prizes including: a "one-week cruise for a family of 4” from Mau-A-Sam Travel, a "4 nights, family all-inclusive stay at the OnVacation Hotel Colombia", a "2 nights, family all-inclusive stay at RIU Hotel in Aruba” from TUI, a “2 nights, family all-inclusive stay at the Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire” and a “2 nights, family all-inclusive stay at the Sunscape Curaçao Resort”.

Duck Race tickets are available for only ANG 10.00 at 24-uur uit de Muur, Bruna, Mensing’s Caminada, Intertoys, TUI travel agency, Van den Tweel Supermarket, Burgers & Fung-A-Loi Notaries, Goisco and all RCW members.
