Isla denies blame for recent oil spill Bullenbaai

WILLEMSTAD - The oil slick that appeared last Wednesday at Bullenbaai, is not from the oil refinery Isla. This was reported by the refinery itself. While the Ministry of Environment and Nature came up with a statement that oil leaked from a container under an oil tank at Bullenbaai, Isla concludes that the oil is not coming from there.

Isla spokesman Kenneth Gijsbertha confirms that the oil samples were taken and tested. “The oil which was found Wednesday at Bull Bay does not match the oil spill from the container under the oil tank. The oil slick from the sump, we cleared was otherwise similar”, said spokesman Gijsbertha. The spokesman said that Isla advocates for a better control on ships around Curaçao and therefore suggests that the oil comes from ships at Bullenbaai.
