Kids in Sentro Fer get a recreational boost thanks to CIBC Firstcaribbean International Bank

FirstcaribbeanWILLEMSTAD - “We were very pleasantly surprised that CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank took the initiative and asked if we needed anything.

That does not happen very often” said Mrs. Astrid de Canha–Dirks, founder and director from Sentro FER in Suffisant.

FER is short for Formashon (Formation) Edukashon (Education) Rekreashon (Recreation) and is an after school care center for kids.

“The number of participants varies, but there are around 80 kids that come here almost daily. They eat here after school and we make sure they do their homework under the supervision and guidance of eight adult supervisors. There is a contribution per child and that covers our expenses but does not leave much room to invest in for instance recreational materials. Therefore this donation from CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank is more than welcome. The donated games and their table as well as the soccer balls will be put to good use” said Mrs. Astrid de Canha–Dirks.

Mrs. Lysaira Ortela, Marketing Manager at CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank in Curaçao added that “during the holidays Sentro FER also offers a vacation program, which is very popular among kids. This gesture from the bank confirms our commitment to the community we live in and are a part of. The idea was to assist with much needed recreational and educational materials in order to supplement the fine work that the folks at Sentro FER are doing.”
