Little Switzerland after 25 years away from Punda

WILLEMSTAD – Little Switzerland, one of the most famous jewelers in the Caribbean has, after decades, closed the Punda branch.

"Closed for Inventory" is written on a piece of paper which is glued against the fencing. But there are no more inventories, let alone the record of inventories. Logo and name are disposed and everything indicates that Little Switzerland is not returning to this place. This was also confirmed by persons who can know, but needs not to be mentioned by name. There were no announcements made by Little Switzerland itself.

Rumors have it that the store was closed down because the lease on the building was increased, but this proved to be untrue. Little Switzerland is downsizing because the company believes that two stores in Curacao is currently too much. There are too few buyers and turnover for two stores.

This means that after a quarter century the Bredestraat Punda will be closed. Little Switzerland still has a store at Curacao, in the Rif Renaissance in Otrobanda, close to the Mega Pier, where the larger cruise ships moor especially in the high season.
