Movie screening “Alive Inside” at Hofi Cas Cora and launching of the campaign “Giving Back To Our Community”
WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, February 4th at 6:30 pm Hofi Cas Cora will host a screening of the documentary “Alive Inside”. This is the second movie night in collaboration with local healthy life style blogger Melanie Muskus from Mel’s Bliss (www.melsbliss.com), Femi Meaux and Joshua Peiliker from Hofi Cas Cora. This documentary is based on the powerful healing and uplifting effect of music on Alzheimer patients. Together with local music specialist Skempi and the Curaçao Alzheimer Foundation (“Stichting Alzheimer Curaçao”) the campaign “Giving back to our community” has been set up and will be officially launched on Thursday, February 4th. Representatives of both the Curaçao Alzheimer Foundation and Skempi will be present to tell a little bit about what they do and to answer questions.
As part of helping out the Curaçao community this campaign was initiated to ask the people on the island to kindly donate their older and unused iPods and MP3 players for the duration of the month of February. Together with Skempi (www.skempi.com) these donated musical devices will be filled up with “oldie” music and, ready for use, given to the Curaçao Alzheimer Foundation with the hope of helping the growing amount of local Alzheimer patients and their families. Donations can be delivered at Hofi Cas Cora (email@example.com).
The 2014 Sundance Film Festival and Audience Award winning documentary “Alive Inside” is a joyous cinematic exploration of music’s capacity to reawaken our souls and uncover the deepest parts of our humanity. Filmmaker Michael Rossato-Bennett chronicles the astonishing experiences of individuals around the country who have been revitalized through the simple experience of listening to music. His camera reveals the uniquely human connection we find in music and how its healing power can triumph where prescription medication falls short.

The setting for this movie night is relaxed and everyone brings their own chair. Registrations for this movie night and all of the future movie nights can be done via the Hofi Cas Cora Facebook (event) page. This is to get an idea and estimate of how many people will be present, as the location has a limited amount of seating (150). This guarantees that everyone will have a perfect view of the movie from all corners.
Before the start of the movie and during the break the guests will be able to purchase a “superfood brain salad” and healthy sodas, tea and coffee at Hofi Cas Cora’s outdoor bar as well as purchase “Alzheimer- preventative smoothies” by Supernice Cold Pressed Juices.
As an initiative by Melanie Muskus, on Sunday November 22nd, 2015 Hofi Cas Cora opened their doors to the public for the very first and successful “Hungry For Change” movie screening on the island. Mel’s Bliss, Hofi Cas Cora and Oasean joined hands and turned this event into a huge success. It was a true eye opener for the 88 guests, both young and old.
The goal of this movie screening was (is) to create more awareness for living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and form a community of like-minded people so they can hopefully further help to inspire others and create a positive ripple effect.
With a full schedule for 2016, Hofi Cas Cora and Mel’s Bliss will continue to offer the Curaçao community a chance to get together on a regular base and enjoy a variety of inspiring movies and documentaries.
