November the month of moustaches and awareness

Movember After the month October whereby breast cancer is the center of attention, November will be turned into Movember (Mo = Moustaches), whereby prostate cancer and men’s health issues are the center of attention.  Movember started in 2003 in Australia, becoming a worldwide phenomenon. Like every year all Movember participants will start with a clean shaved face and will grow a moustache for the next 30 days. These Mo Bros will function as an ambassador for men’s health issues, and there is a possibility to sponsor these Mo Bros.

Prostate cancer for men is comparable with breast cancer for women, which is a type of cancer what is often diagnosed. Through research and the newest developments, the treatments are getting better and better. However it is very important that the cancer will be discovered at a very early stage. Men typically do not speak about their health issues, as it is still a taboo. By creating awareness this taboo will hopefully be history. A Mo Bro is contributing by giving men’s health a new face. This will be achieved by being a walking and talking bill board for 30 days, they raise attention and will start  a dialogue about a theme what normally has no attention: men’s health and prostate cancer in general.

Everybody can register at the official website of Movember, including the supporting women, the so called Mo Sistas. Unfortunately it is not possible yet to select Curaçao as a participating country, but that could be changed if the number of participants on Curaçao will grow. Movember Curaçao hopes that the Mo Bros of Curaçao also register at the Movember Curaçao Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MovemberCuracao) and/ or via email. This year Movember Curaçao would like to see that all donations are going to the Princes Wilhelmina Foundation, they will give prostate cancer education in due course. Updates about sending donation to the PWF will be announced via the Movember Curaçao Facebook page. The donation via the official website of Movember will be divided over recognized organization outside Curaçao by the Movember movement.

The aim is to organize a party at the end of Movember, whereby nice prices can be earned for the effort of raising funds and for having the most original moustache. Front Shore is looking for more participants for making it a nice and bigger event. Would you like to participate or do you know somebody who would like to participate, please send an email to Movember@frontshore.com and/ or go to the Facebook page.
