RBC organizes kite weekend for SGR clients
WILLEMSTAD - Last weekend ‘RBC Ban Yuda Komunidat’ volunteers organized a successful workshop kite making and flying for a large group of SGR Groep clients. The group consisted of persons with a physical and/or mental disability. RBC volunteers organized a workshop kite making hosted by the known kite maker Mr. Rafi Jansen. On Friday the youngsters were shown how to make the kites in preparation for the kite flying part of the event the following day. The group flew the kites on a field in Rooi Santoe across from ‘papitopalapa’. The field is well-known among kiters.
RBC is committed to ‘Diversity’ as one of their values, which means that they proactively support diversity in the community and projects that promote the inclusion of special groups that are otherwise largely ignored in our society. This event meant that RBC volunteers were able to give the SGR youngsters an unforgettable experience.
Visitor Finchi Statia, teacher at Marieta Alberto VSO and known for his work in this field, commented: “I am very impressed by the fact that RBC Royal Bank chose this group to fly kites with. I am also very grateful. This is a group that is largely forgotten by our society. The staff donated their time without any ulterior motive. There wasn’t even a “live” radio broadcast of the event. They just spent time with the group, because it makes them feel good. I encourage every government agency to follow their lead so we can start talking about all the good and beautiful things that are happening on Curaçao. Congratulations! Next time, count me in.”
