RBC/Ban Yuda Komunidat helps the young and the elderly
Volunteers donate books to the young and entertain the elderly
WILLEMSTAD – Volunteers of RBC Ban Yuda Komunidat (BYK) remain very active within the community; this time with a project for the young and elderly. RBC BYK organizes various projects every year and promotes the philosophy of giving back to the community. By doing this the bank contributes to different causes within the community. RBC recently made a significant donation of books to the Sta. Clara School. The school received packages of seven different titles from Fundashon Editorial Sembra Buki, which publishes books in Dutch and Papiamentu for the basic education. With this donation RBC contributes to the expansion of the book collection of the school library and learning curriculum. It is a fact that education has been dealing with a shortage of books in general, especially books about the island and its culture.
Another annual project is the project in which volunteers give special attention to the elderly on the International Elderly Day on October first. For this years’ celebration the RBC BYK volunteers entertained the elderly of Kas di Kuido i Pasadia Marviluz in Souax by arranging typical piano box (kahadiorgel) music, refreshments, snacks and the traditional cashew cake to make the residents and visitors feel festive on their special day.
Throughout the year, RBC BYK volunteers show their commitment by supporting various causes within the community. Volunteers spend time to provide assistance and contribute to the well-being of these individuals and groups in our community. With volunteer work and financial aid the organization has been consistently giving back to the community in which we work and live.
