Ride, Swim, Walk for the Roses

Ride for the Roses

On January 20, 2013

Start 08.00 uur at Wet & Wild

The ride includes a ride on the asphalted road from 60, 40 or 10 kilometers, or a more difficult but wonderful off-road mountain bike trail. This route goes on the Worl Cup trail, Salt Flats of Jan Thiel and the Caracas Bay Peninsula. We recommend to bring sufficient water. For kids and families we strongly advise to do the easy ride.

Easy: 10 km from Wet & Wild through Punda, crossing the “Pontjesbrug” and back. You can do this twice if you want to. Nice family ride

MTB: very challenging for experienced mountain bikers, partly on very technical trails. App 20 km. Not suitable for kids.

Road: 40/60 km Wet & Wild, Rooi Santu, Fuik, Montana, St Catharina, Abrahamz (from here the 40 km group goes straight to Sta. Rosa, Janwe, W&W), Brievengat, Gosieweg, Suffisant, Seroe Fortunaweg, Hato, Rotonde Zegu, Julianadorp, Rotonde Piscadera, Otrobanda, Pontjesbrug, Punda, Penstraat, Wet & Wild.

Swim for the Roses

The Swim for the Roses is a open water swim for the benefit of cancer – it’s no contest – from Jan Thiel to Wet ‘n Wild. The start is at Zanzibar Jan Thiel. From there you swim along the coast line to the Curacao Sea Aquarium where you enter until you reach Wet and Wild.

The course is approx. 2.7 kilometers and you can swim at your own pace, with or without goggles, fins, mask, snorkel etc. It’s all allowed because it is not a competition.

Walk for the Roses

Participants in the Walk can choose between two routes from Brionplein to Wet ‘n Wild, the long route of 10 km crossing the high Julianabrug.

Ride for the Roses Curacao
Of 300 cyclists in the pouring rain in 2005, the Ride for the Roses became the biggest sporting event in Curacao. The name ” Ride for the Roses”  stands for a serie of events every January: a mountain or road bike Ride,  an open water Swim, a Walk and since 2009, the Uphill Challenge.
In 2010 3500 participants  joined in one or more parts of the Ride and  it would be nice if we get the 5000 in 2011! Meaning  more than 3% of the total population of Curacao contributing to the fight against cancer in a sporty way
