Scuba Lodge Dive Center hosts last clean-up dive of the year

IMG_9294Turtle & Ray Productions CuracaoWILLEMSTAD - On Sunday, December 2nd, Scuba Lodge Dive Center Pietermaai will host its last clean-up dive of 2018. During the dive, certified divers will try to remove as much debris from the ocean as possible. Most debris includes plastic waste, bottles, and fishing lines.
Back in 2017, Scuba Lodge Dive Center Pietermaai started with their monthly clean-up dives. The events are attended by local divers, tourists from all around the world, and staff of Scuba Lodge. The clean-up dives are organized every first Sunday of the month and start with a short briefing at the dive center at 2:00 PM.
"Thanks to the support we receive from fellow divers, we have been able to remove a lot of waste from the ocean these last two years. Our clean-up dives usually take place at our house reef, but we have also cleaned the waters at Avila Beach Resort, Marichi, and Director's Bay to name a few sites," says Daan Drechsel, Manager of Scuba Lodge Dive Center PIetermaai. "But there's still lots of debris in the ocean that needs to be removed. That's why we will definitely continue with our underwater initiatives in 2019!"
Certified divers can sign up at the dive center, through Facebook (facebook.com/scubalodgedivecenter), per email (diving@scubalodge.com) or by phone at (+5999) 465-2575. Participation is free. Dive gear can be rented at a special discounted price (US$25 for a full set, or US$10 for air and weights).
