Sixteen participants in Special Olympics
WILLEMSTAD - Curacao sends sixteen athletes at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. To make this possible, Digicel made a sizable donation to the organization.
The Special Olympics are for athletes with a disability.
The Curaçao foundation exists since 1996, but the group has been active since 1990. Currently there are 225 athletes on the island, according to Special Olympics Curaçao. There are many active volunteers to assist them in their trainings.
The games in Los Angeles will be held from July 25 to August 2nd. The sixteen Curaçao athletes consist of four bowlers, six swimmers, two powerlifters and four will participate in bolas.
