The long-anticipated Curaçao premiere of Tula the revolt

999351_554350761269692_618277025_nWILLEMSTAD - Is a new feature film by director Jeroen Leinders and producer Dolph Van Stapele set in Curaçao in 1795. It tells the true story of Curaçao’s largest slave uprising against Dutch oppressors. The revolt was spearheaded by Tula, our most significant national hero. The film reminds us of what life was like in Curaçao in 1795 and serves as an awesome example of thoughtful, passionate leadership, the kind that brings people together to achieve a common goal — even (and perhaps, especially) when the odds are stacked against them.

Tula’s producers worked hard to assemble a diverse cast of characters from all over the world: Obi Abili (a UK actor of Nigerian decent) stars as the titular Tula, Danny Glover plays Shinishi, the elder of the group, Dutch actors Jeroen Krabbé and Derek de Lint play Dutch masters. The cast also includes some amazing yu di Kòrsou (Stephany Francisca - runner-up of Caribbean’s Next Top Model).

The premiere will be on Thursday July 11, 2013.
