COSME sponsors local Education in Social Media and the launch of CaribConnect.net in Curaçao
TORTOLA, WILLEMSTAD – COSME is officially launching CaribConnect.net in Curaçao on August 25, 2016. Live demonstrations of the online incubator, Caribconnect.net are being offered during an all-day seminar at the Curaçao Chamber of Commerce Auditorium. The day will also include a complementary presentation educating entrepreneurs on Google My Business and Google Plus.
The purpose of CaribConnect.net is to initiate exponential growth for Caribbean businesses through the matching of entrepreneurs, mentors and investors. The online incubator is simple to use and is currently free to anyone conducting or wishing to conduct business in the Caribbean. There are three profiles for registration in CaribConnect.net, Entrepreneurs, Mentors and Investors. With over 233 registered members CaribConnect.net is already providing value to its members. When entrepreneurs register for the portal and complete their profile with details such as length of time in business and type of business CaribConnect is able to make recommended matches to mentors or investors who have also registered as CaribConnect users.
The portal, CaribConnect.net, offers tools for entrepreneurs such as templates for business plans and financial plans and educational opportunities through online resources that help them profile their businesses to prospective mentors and investors. The Caribbean is full of talented and successful business men and women, however the geography of the Caribbean islands often presents challenges in meeting and connecting with one another. CaribConnect.net and its online capabilities dissolves this challenge.
Mentors who sign-up with CaribConnect are able to input their areas of expertise and CaribConnect will display its search results with registered entrepreneurs that are looking for such expertise. Mentors can be investors and investors can be mentors, once registered as an investor or mentor, entrepreneurs that are seeking investment or mentorship can be viewed.
“CaribConnect has been showing excellent results since with entrepreneurs using the business plan template. To date, over 87 business plans have been uploaded into the CaribConnect.net site.” said Hans Verschoor, Ecorys’ Key Expert on Business Incubation.
In additional to providing access to this online incubator, COSME continues to add value to local businesses with a presentation by Tim Quinton, expert on Google My Business and Google Plus. Google offers the strongest presence on the internet and it is important for entrepreneurs from Curaçao to ensure they are maximizing their online exposure. When entrepreneurs set up their businesses on Google My Business, it allows their phone number, address and website all to be visible and trackable as part of a user’s search results. Google My Business allows entrepreneurs to adjust and control how their businesses appear on Google search and Google Maps.
COSME has very limited space in this workshop. Entrepreneurs interested in learning more about Google My Business and CaribConnect.net should register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by August 22nd.
The COSME programme specialises in the development of the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the 12 Overseas Countries and Territories, and was launched on April 1, 2014 in Tortola, BVI. The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to the sustainable economic diversification and prosperity of Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories by improving the competitiveness of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in the participating Territories.
