2013 a great year for cruise tourism

Cruise shipsWILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm informs that after the 2013 cruise tourism numbers were analyzed, Curacao has accomplished an increase of 34%. In 2013, Curacao has registered a total of 586,704 cruise visitors compared to 436,068 in 2012. This is an increase of 150,636.

For Minister Palm this is a good sign, because this increase indicated that the efforts being made to increase the cruise tourism are effective. Minister’s Palm vision is for the cruise tourism to continue to grow and surpass the one million mark by the year 2020.

Curacao has registered 291 cruise ships which have docked in the harbor in 2013. In 2012 it was 226, which is an increase of 65 ships. The numbers indicate that the cruise line which brings more visitors to the island is Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL) followed by Carnival and Pullmantur.
