Blue Bay Curaçao: Peace and tranquility but still close to everything
WILLEMSTAD – Last weekend I had the opportunity to see for myself one of Curaçao’s most beautiful places to live and to enjoy some needed vacation. It’s a place for those who are looking for peace and tranquility but still want to be close to … let’s say … everything! Yes, this place exists and it is called Blue Bay Curaçao.
Blue Bay Curaçao together with RE/MAX Bon Bini organized an open house last weekend and I asked them if I can come and see the place and maybe write a little bit about it. I mean, I’ve been to Blue Bay before but I never really got the chance to see it all specially all the developments throughout the years.
Years ago, as a child, I used to go to the beach at Blue Bay and I remember we had to pass through a gate right next to the old plantation house. There we paid our entrance fee and continued to the beach. It was one of my favorite beaches. So imagine all the memories that came back to my mind when I saw the plantation house again. This time it was beautifully renovated but it remained intact just as I remembered it.
Then only difference was that back then, there was only the plantation house. NOW!!! Oh wow, Plantation Blauw houses the Blue Bay Resort with an 18-holes Golf Course, various hotel accommodations, lots of Real Estate options, and yes, that same beach where I used to go but now with restaurants, swimming pool, children’s playground, dive operator, beach store and massage possibilities. After almost thirty years I couldn’t recognize the place anymore.
During my tour of the place, the real estate agent Katherine Neiszer showed me some beach front properties that are for sale. These lots are pretty big compared to the other properties in the resort. They are priced to sell and I think they will sell them fast. The unique thing about is that these lots are that once they are sold, the owner really owns them. It becomes their property. Not like other beachfront properties on the island where you actually lease them from the government. These will never really become properties from the lessor.
Katherine also showed me some of the hotel accommodations in the area. One of them is the brand new Bayside Boutique Hotel. This small 37 room hotel is the epitome of relaxation. The Bayside Boutique Hotel is a luxurious and exclusive “boutique hotel” with its own restaurant called 'Pictures', situated just 50 metres away from the beach. What more can you ask for!
Then Katherine also took me to Indigo Garden homes. These homes come in four types but they are all very spacious. They have two bedrooms with each their own bathroom. All homes have a living room with an open kitchen. Now comes my favorite part. These homes are equipped with large wooden shutter doors that you can slide open partially or fully. This turns the living room into an outdoor space with a view of the golf course, the tropical garden or one of the swimming pools. What a life! This was added to my bucket list. These homes are also priced to sell.
Katherine also explained that they have developed a special rental concept for the homes at Indigo Garden. When you buy a villa, it is possible to join the Blue Bay Hotel rental program. Blue Bay will professionally manage the rental process for at least ten years.
