Certificate Ceremony Customer Service and Tourism Safety Training

GroupPicSafetyTrainingWILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) recently offered two courses aimed at the tourism sector—a Customer Service and a Tourism Safety Course. During a pleasant ceremony at Landhuis Brakkeput Mei Mei, a total of 213 received their certificates after successfully completing one of the above-mentioned courses. The Minister in charge of Economic Development, Dr. Steven Martina, was also present at the certificate ceremony and congratulated the participants in connection with this milestone.

The Customer Service course, offered to CHATA-member hotels, consisted of the followingGroupPicCustomerService modules: Customer Experience, Communicating with the Customer, Surprising the Customer, the Difficult Customer and finally, the Different Customer. The participating hotels were the Avila Beach Hotel, Baoase Luxury Resort, Blue Bay Curaçao Golf & Beach Resort, Bon Bini Seaside Resort, Holiday Beach Resort and Casino, Kontiki Beach Resort, Papagayo Beach Hotel & Resort, Pietermaai Boutique Hotel, Royal Sea Aquarium Resort, ACOYA Curaçao Resort Villas & Spa, Dolphin Suites Curaçao, Academy Hotel Curaçao, San Marco Hotel & Casino, Scuba Lodge, Sunscape Curaçao Resort Spa & Casino, Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort Curaçao, Dive Center Scuba Do, Nostalgia Tours & Accommodation and Restaurant Gouverneur De Rouville. A total of 162 participants successfully completed the course. The CTB also coordinated a Customer Service course last year, for which 50 persons were handed out a certificate. Both courses were designed by Teamwork Curaçao.

The Tourism Safety course was offered to different persons who are either directly or indirectly involved with the safety of tourists and the community at large on a daily basis. For the participants, this was an opportunity to hone their skills and learn how to handle certain safety aspects, such as terrorism and other criminal acts. The course was delivered by Dr. Peter Tarlow, an expert in the area of crime and terrorism for the tourism industry. The CTB also coordinated a number of safety courses in years past, which were very well received by security agencies. This year, the participants included representatives of the Curaçao Ports Authority, Politur, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium, Quality Tours & Travel, Kibra Hacha Tours, Stichting One Curaçao, FBTT Travel, Atlantis Adventures, Rud Tours, Fiesta Tours, Go Local in Curaçao, individual tourist guides and the CTB.
