CTB tackles safety of tourists

Curacao StatisticsWILLEMSTAD - Representatives of the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and other relevant authorities have recently met to discuss the safety of tourists visiting the island.

The meeting began with a review of initiatives taken by the CTB in previous years, in order to gauge the current safety level.

The problems and solutions were discussed with the Police Corps Curaçao, the Public Ministry, Carmabi, Unique Curacao, Chata, ROP, Hawk Eye Security, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry for Nature and Environment, Curacao Airport Holding and the board of Politur.

It has been shown that initiatives taken by the CTB have produced results in several areas. Subsequently, the parties have made an inventory of what measures should be taken to address the persistent problems regarding the safety of tourists. Knowing that tourism contributes significantly to the economy of the island, all present agreed that there must be an end to this problem. Therefore everyone has put forward short and long term solutions. In the coming weeks, the parties will actively meet to contribute with concrete plans for the government to approve and implement. CTB wants to ask everyone to cooperate by alerting authorities at all times of peculiar situations that need immediate attention. This is to keep Curacao safe for tourists.
