First visit Freedom of the Seas

Freedom of SeasWILLEMSTAD - On May 22nd, the cruise ship "Freedom of the Seas” of Royal Caribbean cruise lines visited Curaçao for the first time. During the inaugural visit representatives of the different stakeholders Ministry of Economic development, Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Maduro Shipping (agent), Downtown Management Organization (DMO), Customs and Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) boarded the ship for the welcome ceremony. During the ceremony, the captain, the crew and passengers of the ship were welcomed and plaques and symbolic gifts exchange took place.

For CPA it was an extra special day because the new mega pier, Tula, was constructed to accommodate the largest cruise ships in the world and yesterday was the first time a Freedom class ship was able to moor in Curaçao. All four dolphins were used.

The Freedom of the Seas has a length of 339 meters. The itinerary of the Freedom of the Freedom of Seas1Seas consists of a 7 nights cruise with San Juan Puerto Rico as the home port. The next port of calls are Aruba and Saint Martin before returning to San Juan. The ship has a maximum capacity of 6,000 people of which 3,600 passengers and 1,400 crew members. The ship is now scheduled until the end December to visit Curaçao 3 times a month and then regularly in 2019.
