Hotels less full in January

Hotel roomWILLEMSTAD – January of this year was a disappointing month for the hotels. The average hotel occupancy dropped by more than five percentage points to 68.1 percent. Twelve months before, the occupation was still 73.4 percent.

That is according to the last Chata Monthly Newsletter. Chata emphasize that these are preliminary figures of nine resorts which in total accounts for 1,738 rooms. The so-called "average daily rate" was indeed higher with 179 dollars. This was in January 2012, $ 168.50. Revenue per available room rose thus even slightly, from 122 to $ 123.70.
