Leading technology and media companies for Caribbean Week New York
BRIDGETOWN – A leading multinational technology company and a top online newspaper which focuses on the Caribbean will share insights into various aspects of social media at Caribbean Week New York.
Google has confirmed it will present on how the Caribbean can increase its effectiveness in reaching the high-spending Generation Y travellers, while Caribbean Journal will focus on how employees can become invaluable social media partners.
Both will present workshops at the event entitled, Climbing the Social (Media) Ladder, organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) as part of its programme for Caribbean Week New York.
“The development of social media marketing initiatives is a core part of the CTO’s programme to help our members and partners grow their businesses, and with research showing consumers will spend more time on social media in 2016 than ever before, this event is timely as we seek to discern how to move people from fans to customers,” said Sylma Brown, the CTO’s director of CTO USA Inc.
The session on Climbing the Social (Media) Ladder takes place on Tuesday 2 June from 9:00 A.M. to noon at the Marriott Marquis in New York.
This year is the fifth anniversary of one of Caribbean Week’s most anticipated events, Rum & Rhythm as a benefit and the popular event will have a new home and a new feel.
The Ultimate Caribbean Epicurean Experience on Friday 3 June moves to the historic Capitale, a Roman classic 1895 landmark adorned with Corinthian columns, Venetian glass, marble mosaic floors and 65 foot ceilings.

The chefs program through which Caribbean chefs display their skills and present attractive Caribbean culinary at popular venues remains on the Caribbean Week New York menu. The week will also include a number of business meetings.
Organized by the CTO, Caribbean Week New York is the largest, most engaging regional tourism activity in the “Big Apple” and typically attracts thousands of participants, including Caribbean tourism officials, the media, artists, performers, celebrity chefs, fashion designers, models, investors and other strategic partners. It showcases the sights, sounds, colours, culture and unique holiday experiences of the Caribbean and combines business sessions and consumer-oriented events with food, fashion, entertainment, sales and networking opportunities.
