Local people in tourism

WILLEMSTAD – Curacao Tourism Bureau’s labor market training’s goal is to help local people find employment in the tourism sector. New training on “Basic Bartender/Waiter” started in April 2012. This project is within the framework of “Hospitality Training for Jobseekers”.

This project was finished on Thursday November 8. The participants had spent 5 months in intense training to get their certificates. One month was spent on social education and nine weeks on vocational training. In conclusion the participants had the opportunity to do their internship in a local bar or restaurant

“The unique feature of this course is that anyone who aspires for a job in the hospitality industry as a bartender or waiter can participate. The training is in collaboration with the Academy Hotel Curacao given to severe shortage of bartenders and waiters in hotels and restaurants”, according to CTB.

The seventeen participants work now at Grill King, Hilton Hotel, Blue Bay Curacao, Mister Congas and Chogogo. A second training course is scheduled for early 2013.
