More than 175 scouts participated at the Tourism Youth Conference
WILLEMSTAD - Recently the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) launched a new awareness campaign called “Dushi Hende t’ Ami; Mi ta ON!” The awareness campaign is focused on the Curaçao youth between the ages of 12 and 19. This campaign is dedicated to increase the level of awareness among teenagers about the value of our tourism, to promote more education related to tourism topics and to inspire the teenagers to choose for a future in the tourism and hospitality sector. As part of the awareness campaign a tourism conference was organized, for scouts of Scouting Antiano and AGPNA between 12 and 15 years old. The conference took place last Saturday at the World Trade Center. Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath shared some encouraging words with the youngsters.
As a preparation, participating scouting groups attended 4 weeks of info-sessions prior to attending the conference. The conference covered the following topics: 1) What is tourism, 2) Tourism and Economy, 3) Employment in the Tourism Industry, 4) In the shoes of a tourist and 5)
Safety and Security in the Tourism Industry.
The scouts had the opportunity to express their point of view about the importance of tourism development for our island. During the presentations the audience had a chance to ask questions to the scouts. CTB congratulates the scouts on a successful conference. This awareness campaign is financed by Reda Sosial, with funds from the Government of Curaçao. The CTB contributes financially towards the execution of this project and is together with Fundashon Nos Kousa (FNK) responsible for the project implementation.
