Occupancy hotels lowest since 2007

hotel roomWILLEMSTAD - The occupancy of hotels in Curacao in 2013 was the lowest since 2007. The occupancy rate was 67.3 percent last year. Thus, the capacity utilization decreased by 2.9 percent compared to 2012. This is according to the Curacao Hospitality & the Tourism Association (CHATA).

The occupancy rate was 67.3 percent last year. In 2012 it was 70.2 percent. The room prices rose by an average of 3.74 dollars. In 2013, hotels were charging an average of 148.67 dollars per room per night, the year before that was 144.93 dollars. The average turnover increased along: In 2013, hotels received an average of 105.56 dollars per available room. In 2012, it was an average of 101.92 dollars.


The figures do not describe all the statistics of the hotels on the island. CHATA has compiled the random numbers from the statistics of ten to twelve hotels, representing two thousand hotel rooms.
