Oil spill does not affect tourism

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) has said that the tourist resorts and beaches in Curacao are not affected by the oil spill.

The announcement came after calls from concerned people who wondered whether it was wise to travel to Curaçao. According to the CTB everything is ok.  The oil spill affected the Jan Kok area which is a natural reserve, but beaches and resorts are far away from the affected area.

The oil refinery and other volunteers are hard at work cleaning up the areas before they become a threat to other parts of the island.
