Press Release Curacao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) on Hyatt Regency Curaçao
Saturday December 15, 2012, CHATA received information that the owners of the Hotel have terminated the agreement or the so called “Management Contract” with the Hyatt Hotel chain. It is good to mention that this decision is one that CHATA really laments, but understands that this situation must be viewed on both sides of the medal. The owners of the hotel have informed that everything will continue operating as normal. The change in the name will be something temporal till the new owners of the hotel can reach an agreement with another hotel chain to operate the complex.
This decision will not affect the employees of the hotel, they will all have the opportunity to continue working for the hotel under the new name and management which is Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort Curaçao.
The owners of the hotel have signed an agreement with “Benchmark Hospitality International” to manage the change process. CHATA is excited to hear that the reservations made for this hotel will stay and all benefits and or agreements with international and local partners will be valid, this will surely help with the change process.
It is still not known what the motives were for this decision, but CHATA remains positive that this change will bring even more tourism development for the future of Curacao.
CHATA hopes that the community of Curacao will give the necessary space to those in charge of this change so this process can go quick and responsibly.
