Promotion for Curaçao during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro
WILLEMSTAD – As is widely known, the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro carries the name the World’s Largest Show. Curaçao, through a promotion done by the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), was able to catch the attention of the Brazilian communication media, for its “camarote” (cabin) during the carnival parade in Rio de Janeiro. “Camarote” is a special space for guests in the Sapucai Sambodromo where more than 75.000 people gather to watch the largest show in the world.
All Brazilians long to watch the carnival as a guest in a “camarote”. CTB used this last year as an incentive to stimulate the wholesalers in Brazil to sell Curaçao as a tourism destination with the chance to enjoy the carnival in CTB’s “camarote”. The CTB has also invited many artists and celebrities in Brazil. The result was a tremendous coverage on television, in the newspapers and magazines.
Curaçao received coverage in O’Globo, Journal do Brazil, the Caras magazine and also in the Amaury Jr. show, which is a late night show with a high rating. The actress Juliana Alves, who is Curaçao’s face in Brazil was present. She was also the Reina do Bateria (Band’s Queen) of the group Unidos da Tujica. Other celebrities that visited CTB’s “camarote” were the singer Ludmilla, Adriana Bombom (TV show host), Anaju Dorigon (actress), Adriane Galisteu (TV show host) and Amaury Jr. (TV show host) to mention a few.
