Renovation Plaza Bieu awaits subsidy
WILLEMSTAD – Before a new public tender for the old plaza, Plasa Bieu, can be announced, the Ministry of Finance must give the green light for a subsidy of approximately 800,000 guilders (451,000 dollars).
This is according to the Director of the Fundashon Marshe, Roxanne de Leeuw. Fundashon Marshe is the foundation that operates the old market in Punda. They also operate the round market in front of the post office in Punda.
In August this year, the Minister of Economic Development, Eugene Rhuggenaath indicated that the renovation of the old market was delayed because the public tender did not give the desired results.
Meanwhile, it was decided that Fundashon Marshe will be responsible for the renovation of the old market and not the Ministry. Therefore, the foundation must apply for this subsidy.
