Starting November weekly flights to and from Toronto

Air CanadaWILLEMSTAD, TORONTO - Curacao can expect more visitors from Canada. Stanley Palm Minister of Economic Development said yesterday during the weekly press conference of the Ministers that Air Canada will start, on November 7, weekly direct flights to and from Toronto. As of January 2015, the Canadian airline will also start direct flights to and from Montreal.

Director of the Curaçao Tourist Board, Hugo Clarinda, was with Minister Palm at the meeting and told the route of Canada has already grown by 30%, and thus the country is the fourth largest market for Curacao, after the Netherlands, the U.S. and Venezuela.

Clarinda also hopes that with the extra flights the island can limit the reduced number of visitors, especially after the local airline Dutch Antilles Express (DAE) went bankrupt. Minister Palm is also in talks with other airlines and hopes to be able to announce more about these negotiations within two weeks.
