Tourism: positive and negative developments in the past year

WILLEMSTAD — “The tourist sector experienced both positive and negative developments and changes”, Chata reported, looking back on the past year. For instance, the organized interest group developed a new vision on ‘Airline Partnership’ with the focus on stronger alliances and communications.

“Chata represented the interests of its members by collecting and providing information to the government and other stakeholders.” Much attention was paid also this year to the ‘online-world’, especially regarding ‘social media’ and developing digital marketing strategies. The latter made it possible to put the first ‘Annual Report’ online. The new and improved website was also launched and the newsletter was redesigned. The improved digital communication method with its members through various platforms was important for Chata to meet the demand for innovation and renewal of communication. Chata focused on ‘Sales Missions’ whereby the most important markets for Curaçao were expanded. This was done to create a platform and opportunity for our members to exchange ideas with international partners”, Chata reported, emphasizing the mission hadn’t changed in the past 45 years. Chata-director Lisa Dindial: “Curaçao is our island and of course we want to make this known to the whole world. The only way to accomplish this is to seek collaborations or partnerships. We must continue to work on this as a sector. This will remain our mission and we hope everyone will pursue this endeavor in developing tourism and our island Curaçao.” Chata thanks the government, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and all of its members ‘for this year’ and emphasizes to continue dedicating themselves to the ‘most important and dynamic sector of dushi Korsou’.
