TUI leads young people to travel professionals
WILLEMSTAD - The tour company TUI has started with the TUI Curaçao Work Xperience Program, which is a program where young people are trained to become travel professionals.
During a period of eight months they will receive training in the industry in the Netherlands and in Curaçao.
According to Danielle Zuiderwijk of TUI Curaçao, TUI has offices at various places in the world and makes use of these in the training of young tourism professionals. “We can offer a them combination of workplaces in which they gain experience in both the Netherlands and in Curaçao.”
Through this program tourism students can gain their first work experience. They are also trained for a job within the tour company. Curaçao and Dutch students can enroll in March and September, after which they are trained in the Netherlands for the first two months as a customer service agent and then six months shadowing in Curaçao. Afterwards if there is mutual satisfaction they are offered further employment if there are suitable vacancies.
The first group of young people has already started with the program. The recruitment for the next group will be held in September.
