ZIKA Virus statement for CTB
WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Tourist Board is aware of documented cases of the ZIKA virus in the region and is closely monitoring the situation on the island. The safety of our visitors and locals remains a top priority.
As of January 22, 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have not advised against traveling to the island.
We encourage travelers to Curaçao to take basic steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites by applying long-lasting insect repellents as directed and covering exposed skin with long-sleeved shirts, pants, and light-colored clothing.
The tourism board remains in close contact with CHATA, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Health regarding the ZIKA virus and continues to actively monitor the situation with the relevant government ministries.
The island continues to welcome visitors daily and normal activities remain in place.
Additional information about the ZIKA Virus, how it’s contracted, symptoms and treatment are available on the CDC website.
