Curacao gets terminal for private jets

AirportWILLEMSTAD - The airport of Curacao will focus on a specific branch within the aviation: private jets. Also in this year, there should be a separate terminal for people who come to visit the island using their own aircraft. This is according to a Caribbean Network report.

Curacao Airport Partners (CAP), the operator of the airport, announced this during their press conference. According to CAP Curacao now attracts 3,500 private jets a year without any special provisions for them. With the new investment, which should be realized in the third quarter, Curaçao can be even more attractive for this particular group of travelers.

Special service

"The current building which is now used by the maintenance department will be turned into a gem for the general aviation. Curacao already has a frequency of 3500 of these small aircraft on an annual basis, which are expensive and thus have clientele that you can offer something special and separate service,” Chief Commercial Officer Peggy Croes said.

The travelers, who come with a private jet to Curacao, are from the United States, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil. The realization of the special terminal will be paid from the 2014 budget, about ten million dollars. Also, in the coming year, an extension of the departure hall will be financed from this fund, which can be additionally closed off so that the hall will be equipped with air conditioning.
