First official flight Aruba Airlines after reopening border
VALENCIA - In the presence of the Venezuelan Minister of Transport Carlos Osorio and the Governor of the State of Carabobo Rafael Lacava, Aruba Airlines officially inaugurated its first flight from Venezuela to Aruba.
This event took place at the Arturo Michelena International Airport in Venezuela. According to the Minister, this is an important event because this connects Venezuela again with the ABC Islands which has enjoyed more than 100 years of commercial and historical ties.
Aruba Airlines operated some flights during the blockade but these were very limited. The flights were mostly to transport Venezuelans who were stranded on the islands.
Now with the opening of the borders, the airline can continue operations. Curaçao is also waiting for flights from Venezuela as was the case before the unilateral decision of the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to close the borders.
