Tiara Air’s situation according to employees

Tiara airWILLEMSTAD – After the recent article about one of Aruba’s airlines, Tiara Air, some employees contacted Curacao Chronicle to state that we have failed to mention that they still have not received their salaries, which will be an outstanding amount of 6 months (effective June 26th).

Tiara Air is also not flying to Las Piedras. On the contrary, Albatross Airlines (A Venezuelan Airline) is conducting 4 daily flights on behalf of Tiara daily with 1 Cessna 208B Grand Caravan (a single engine prop with 10 seats). According to the employees if Tiara Air can't even pay them, how can they afford to pay another airline to conduct flights on their behalf?

Just recently Tiara got approval from the labor department to lay off 50+ employees. Bear in mind, these 50+ employees still haven't gotten their salaries since the year began and Tiara has approval to lay them off without paying them upfront. The moratorium has been extended to October 26th 2015!

The employees ask if they are expected to wait that long for payment while they can't find jobs elsewhere. “The last time when Alejandro Muyale (owner of the embattled aviation company) stated to the press "within 3 weeks the ABC flights would restart" it was a lie. The lies continue to pile up. If Alejandro wants to tell stories tell a complete one, not half truths or complete lies!” one of the employees stated.
