Jacob Gelt DekkerLast week (20 September 2014), ISIS reached Latin America when the Argentine President, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, received death threats from “ISIS”, during a visit to the Vatican. Her friendship with Pope Francis, a native of Argentine, and Argentine’s recognition of Israel as well as Palestine, are not acceptable to the barbaric Islamic radicals. The number of Muslims in Latin America is estimated to be between four and six million, with at least 1,00,000 in Argentina and more than 1,500,000 in Brazil. Communities are mainly concentrated in Brazil and Argentina but also in Venezuela, Colombia, Panama and Paraguay, and are mostly from either Lebanese, or Syrian origin. The Mosque of Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim in Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela, serves a Muslim population of about 100,000 and is the second largest mosque in Latin America. The close relationship between former Presidents Chavez and Gaddafi of Libya fostered a resurgence of Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas sympathizers in Venezuela. Caracas, with 22,000 killings per year, easy access to firearms and explosives, and severe lack of any law enforcement, makes for a dream base for any terrorist. There is little doubt that ISIS stealth fighters already dug in comfortably, and are awaiting orders to release their rain of terror.

ISIS latest propaganda video, Flames of War states that they are merely establishing Allah’s law on earth but are being attacked by President Assad, the Americans, the West and various other foes. With Apocalyptic Christians, these Muslim fanatics share the belief and desire of world struggle and a Armageddon to prepare a second coming of their Messiah, or Mahdi, culminating in a Final Judgment, as once set out in John’s Revelations at Patmos. This sophisticated cinematography is combined with the bloodthirsty messages, “As for the near future, you will be forced into a direct confrontation, with Allah’s permission, despite your reluctance. And the sons of Islam have prepared themselves for this day, so wait and see, for we too are also going to wait and see.” “Flames of War” is reminiscent of Hitler propagandist Leni Riefenstahl's 1935 film, Triumph of the Will.

The idea, ‘ijtihad’ is Islam’s tradition of reason, of questioning and reinterpreting. After approximately 400 years, the leaders of the Sunni Muslim world, and especially ISIS, closed the "Gates of ijtihad;" ISIS-Muslims are not allowed use ijtihad, the exercise of critical thinking and independent judgment. Today’s dogmatism, radicalism and bloody barbarism dictate their actions. Denial and ignorance of this new reality by local, Latin American administrators will find any resistance to ISIS-stealth off guard. ISIS has arrived, wake up, please!
