CIFA to Expand Reach of Financial Sector Promotion

WILLEMSTAD – The financial sector is an important, yet inconspicuous contributor to the Curaçao economy, with a share of 8 to 10 percent of GDP. Also, financial services offered locally to international clients are an important source of foreign currency income for Curaçao.

With this important role in mind, the members of the Curaçao International Financial Services Association (CIFA) approved the association’s action plan and budget for 2013.

According to the plan, CIFA is to focus on promotion, product development and knowledge migration in 2013.

To get its message across to stakeholders, both local and overseas, CIFA will update its promotional paper and extend its global reach by transformimg its current web presence to a multi-lingual website.

In addition, CIFA will continue to support activities of the Curaçao International Financial Center in 2013. This relates to public-private efforts to promote Curaçao as an international financial center. The association will also focus on product development and the transfer of knowledge.

One strategy is to increase the size of the local population by attracting highly educated professionals “The development of new products and attracting additional knowledge migrants is of significant importance to improve our international financial competitiveness.

To further promote Curaçao message to the financial world, CIFA will organize two seminar in 2013. The first on product development and a second seminar on knowledge migration.

Finally CIFA aims to organize a ‘Career Event’ in 2013 with the purpose of informing students regarding the international financial sector and the attractive career possibilities offered on Curaçao.
