CPA wants to be less dependent on Isla Refinery

WILLEMSTAD - The Curacao Ports Authority is trying to become more independent from the oil refinery Isla. This is according to the Director of the Curaçao Ports Authority, Humberto de Castro. He just disclosed a little bit about CPA’s plans for Bullenbaai.

According to Castro, this area could be a deep sea port for bulk product shipment. But the CPA frontman believes that it is too early to go deeper into this topic but the need for new activities in the harbor is becoming more and more important. The expectation is that the number of tankers coming to Curaçao will be 30 percent lower than in 2016.

CPA is keeping a watchful eye on the situation and regularly meets with representatives of the refinery to talk about the number of expected ships that will dock at one of the harbors in Curaçao.
