Minister Hakim present at Stimul-IT conference

WILLEMSTAD - Early Wednesday morning a conference room packed with representatives and specialists of the IT and Media Sector were eager to start exchanging strategies and best practices at the 'Cross Media Conference-Creating New Business'. Minister Hakim opened the event that was organized by Stimul-IT and made possible by the Ministry of Economic Development and many partners in the IT and Technology sector.

Key speaker at the event was Internet Architect Mr. Martin Hannigan of the Akamai (Akamai provides 20% of the WORLD'S total Web traffic). During his speech Minister Hakim pointed out that one of the bottlenecks is the lack of a secure platform that enables more trust and growth. "Many business owners and entrepreneurs have asked me personally, how they should develop and grow with the needs of the world, when they are not able to trust the person that they hire that supposedly should assist them in this development. Trust is a major issue! Development of our businesses remain stuck, because of lack of a secure platform that enables such successful growth. Businesses in Curacao need a secure platform where they can get help and guidance when developing their businesses in today’s global market", Minister Hakim stated.

During the same speech he informed the crowd that Stimul-IT and the Innovation sector of the Ministry of Economic Development have started with the development of such platform. "The centre should function as a knowledge platform for businesses and offer integrated IT-service management solutions, so that the company can entirely focus on its core business. It is up to the centre to mediate between the company and the IT-professional. This plan will stimulate an efficient use of ICT towards an increased productivity and sustainable socio-economic growth and will alleviate this bottleneck caused by misinformation in this ambiguous sector", Minister Hakim explained.
