Minister Jardim implements investments to stimulate the economy

Jose JardimWILLEMSTAD – In the TV program 'Dies Minut ku Jardim " (Ten minutes with Jardim) on Wednesday at a quarter past nine on TeleCuraçao, Finance Minister, Jose Jardim explained how during the coming period the economy will be stimulated by various investments which will be implemented.

The purpose of the plan is to give the economy a big boost and to create jobs. A megaproject has recently started, in cooperation with Minister of Transport, Transport and Planning, Earl Balborda, to provide 300 kilometers of new asphalt on the island. Great efforts are being done to get the roads back in order again. This brings with it many jobs and will also significantly boost the economy. For this plan, the Minister of Finance earmarked 40 million in the budget and there will be 160 million guilders involved in four years. Minister Balborda also gave his views on the mega project to strongly improve the road network.

In addition to the large investments in the road network, there is money in the budget allocated to the Ministry of Education to continue renovating various schools. That will certainly benefit the education on the island. There were also be several projects on sports and social area to get better facilities in the neighborhoods.  There is great attention to youth in disadvantaged areas to inform them and also to motivate them to participate in sports organizations.

The Minister of Finance is working hard to achieve all his goals set forth in the coalition agreement and to help the island to get on top again. Next to boosting economy, Minister Jardim wants to also reduce the cost of living, increase incomes where everyone benefits from it and make a significant positive contribution to everyone on the island.
