New business plan for Curacao Dry Dock

WILLEMSTAD - Demissionary Minister Nasser El Hakim (Economic Development) promises that Curacao Dry Dock (CDM) can count on a strategic business plan that fully meets international standards within three months. The National Investment Bank will support the CDM in adapting the existing plan.

CDM-director Errol Martina and Steve Graybill of the National Investment Bank signed yesterday during an official meeting the Cooperation Agreement, under the watchful eye of Minister Hakim. In the coming months they will work on completing the business plan.

One of the larger projects is the construction of two large, modern Panamax Dry Docks according to the international standard (ships of such size that they may sail through the Panama Canal). Also update the infrastructure on the site. According to Hakim, these adjustments have much impact on the economy, because they stimulate economic activity and thus more income and jobs. "Dock has the potential to become one of the largest sources of revenue for our economy. The further development of the maritime center is of great interest, "said the minister.
