Occupancy hotels 3.9 percent higher in May

MarriottWILLEMSTAD - The occupancy rate of the hotels in May was higher than in the same month last year. In May 2014, 65 percent of the rooms were occupied; twelve months earlier it was 61.1 percent. This is according to a report from the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA).

The average room rate also increased over the same period. Last year the average price per room was about 126.36 dollars per night, this year the price has raised to132. 12 dollars per night. Corrected by the average occupancy rate, the hotels also booked more revenue per room. In May 2013 it was 77.21 dollars, this year it was 85.85 dollars in the same month. The figures are not final, but based on a sample of eight hotels representing 1696 rooms in total.
