Popular store to leave main street Punda

Boolchand1WILLEMSTAD - For years the popular store Boolchands has been part of main street Punda. Now, according to the company, they have made the difficult decision to leave Breedestraat 50.

Since 1930 and throughout its history, Boolchand’s has served both tourists and the local community of Curacao from various locations in Punda. Several years ago, they expanded their presence in Zeelandia to better serve the local clientele, according to their press release.

“Today, however, we find ourselves at a crossroads. The changing retail environment over the past few years has unfortunately made it challenging for an electronics business to survive in a prime tourist location. As such, we have taken the difficult decision to consolidate and relocate our operations in Punda from our flagship location at Breedestraat 50 to Trompstraat z/n as of August 16th this year.”

The company also indicated that although they will be downsizing, they will not be leaving Punda, and they hope to continue to serve those who visit Punda for many years to come. At the same time, they are pleased to announce that a global jewelry brand very much focused on the tourist market will open in their building in November 2018, adding value to Punda’s retail landscape as a whole.

Boolchand’s finished their press release by stating that they look forward to continuing to serve tourists and the Curacao public in their new location at Trompstraat in Punda, or at their Zeelandia stores, Boolchand’s DigitalWorld and iWorld.
