The Government will invest 60 million to stimulate the economy

Jose JardimWILLEMSTAD – This year the Cabinet Asjes will start with projects to stimulate the economy. There will be about 60 million guilders invested various projects in different sectors. This was declared by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim.

These investments will take place in areas like social economic, education and infrastructure. There will be 14 million invested in facilities for the elderly; another 14 million will be invested in maintenance and reconstruction of schools; 11 million for health from which 6 million will go to the reconstruction of the emergency care building and 5 million for new equipments. The investments which will be made in infrastructure are for water drainage and roads.

30 million will be used this year. The Government will invest 14 million in solar panels for schools. 2 million will be invested in the betterment of the public beaches, 9 million for a training center at the Curacao Dock Company (Maritime Center), 13 million to enhance the education structure, and finally major investments in the fight against crime. 5 million for new equipments such as weapons, cars etc.

According to Dr. Jardim, the investment program is very important since it has to stimulate the economy and because they are in the areas of infrastructure and education, it helps to fortify our economy.
