A call to civil disobedience is not punishable

WILLEMSTAD - Helmin Wiels did not commit any criminal offense with his call for civil disobedience.

That is according to Norman Serphos, spokesman for the Public Prosecutor (OM). The leader of Pueblo Soberano also called for a general strike if an interim government is formed.

Serphos emphasizes that a lawmaker in and outside Parliament is vigorously protected by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. "He may in large hits up, disrupt and insult in the context of his political and social function."

The prosecution follows the matter of course, because a disturbance of the public order is not allowed.
