Coast guard arrests suspected human smugglers

Coast GuardWILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard  arrested two Venezuelans on suspicion of human smuggling this morning at dawn. During a patrol the officers observed south of Valero an unlit vessel. The boat tried to escape when it noticed the Coast Guard.

It was a boat from Venezuela called Dios Vera. Probably there were illegal immigrants on board who stayed in Aruba. The Aruban police was immediately informed and therefore three persons were also arrested on land. The two crew members were arrested on suspicion of smuggling. The vessel was seized and taken to the Coast Guard jetty in Savaneta.
