Coast guard intercepts vessel with three people suspected of drug trafficking

WILLEMSTAD - The Coast Guard Caribbean intercepted on Wednesday, October 10, a vessel of the type Yola with three persons aboard in connection with their involvement in a suspected drug trafficking.

During a patrol with a Super-RHIB, the Coast Guard signaled in the early morning at the south coast of Curacao a suspicious Yola with a crew three. The navigater, who was urged to quit, tried to flee. After a chase with the Super-RHIB the coast guard was able to bring the Yola to a stop. All three occupants were arrested and were brought to the Coast Guard fulcrum Parera. The Yola is seized and the suspects were handed over to the Police.

The case is being investigated by the Coast Guard in cooperation with the Organized Crime Division of the Police Corps Curacao.
