Court delegation at conference of Caribbean judges

CAJOWILLEMSTAD - President of the Court of Justice, Evert Jan van der Poel and Judge Mauritsz de Kort participated in the Caribbean Association of Judicial Officers (Cajo) conference in Barbados on behalf of the Court. This participation is part of efforts by the Court to orientate itself in the Caribbean region.

De Kort notes in a statement that the judicial organizations in the Caribbean almost all have to do with a small society and a small budget. However, De Kort noted, that the judicial system in the region often differs from ours. About 155 judges participated in the conference.


On the first day there was the Conference of Heads of Judiciary and Chief Justices of the Caribbean Community. This meeting is an annual meeting. During the meeting there was a presentation included on IT capabilities offered and topics of general interest, including integrity and modernization of the law. During the following days the biennial Cajo conference took place.
