House Helmin Wiels searched

Court houseWILLEMSTAD –  Helmin Wiels’ house was thoroughly searched yesterday by the Investigation Team in charge of investigating the murder of the political leader. The team also looked for clues in his office in the Parliament building in downtown Willemstad, his car and at the crime scene.

Three prosecutors are in charge of the case and were given orders to do the searches.  Different items were seized during these searches which hopefully can give more clues as to who committed the murder or were ordered to commit the murder and also the motives behind this tragic incident that has left Curacao paralyzed.

Wiels’ body was also confiscated for autopsy as is prescribed by law in cases like these. Earlier rumors that a suspect was arrested, was immediately rejected by the police.

The Investigation Team consists of individuals of the Public Prosecution, the police, the Criminal Investigation Team, the Royal Military Police, the Coast Guard, the National Security Service (SKS) and the Special Tasks.
